50 Tools You Need To Have If You Are Going To Build Guitars
If you had to choose 50 tools to get you through the rest of your life as a guitar builder what would they be? I have thought about this list for a long time and I’m still not 100% sure about all of them. I’m positive that y’all won’t agree with all of my pics so I want to keep this list a living document. I urge you to send me your ideas because I will probably forget some things…who knows, you might even change my mind. I will update the list and add videos along the way so keep checking in. If you haven’t figured it out by now or if this is a new hobby for you one thing to know is that building guitars isn’t something you do because you want to save money on your dream ax. Well, maybe that’s what you think going in but after you add up all the receipts you would have probably been better off just saving the money and buying the guitar you really wanted in the first place. If, however, you enjoy working with your hands and want to learn a new skill set building musical instruments is very rewarding. It can also be very frustrating but that is a story for another day. The bottom line is that if you want to build guitars you are going to need some tools. You don’t need to go broke buying stuff and I’m going to share a few secrets with you along the way. Most importantly, this list will be loaded with multi-taskers. I have also included lots of Amazon links to help get you started. I didn’t realize it but many of these links will save you some serious coin too. Some of the tools on my list are easy to find and affordable. I must warn you though, there will be some big-ticket items before we are finished so get ready to flex your credit card muscle. When I started out I had lots of time and hardly any tools, these days that is all mixed up and I wish I had more time to use the tools I have acquired. So, lets jump right in with the first 10 tools. These were easy to decide on as they are tools I use all the time. I don’t think there will be any surprises, and these are in no particular order. 50.
